Administrative Professionals Day Recognizes the Critical Role of Office Support Professionals
On April 26, several American Institute campuses joined the world in celebrating Administrative Professionals Day. This annual event, co-sponsored by the International Association of Administrative Professionals, recognizes the expanding responsibilities and essential contributions of administrative support staff in the modern economy.
“For us, this is an opportunity to celebrate and motivate the students that decided to go into this fast-growing field,” said Clifton Assistant Campus President Sherry Muse. “We also honor our graduates who are already working as administrative professionals.”
The Administrative Office Professional curriculum at American Institute covers knowledge and skills essential to efficient running of today’s workplace. Students learn filing procedures, electronic records management, time management, internet functions, software programs in the Microsoft Office Suite and much more.
“This intensive program covers both theory and lab work, enabling students to acquire the knowledge and the practice needed to succeed in the workplace,” said Ms. Muse. “Our students graduate fully prepared for success in a variety of roles, including administrative assistant, receptionist, bank teller, and office manager.”
In honor of their special day, Administrative Office Professional students at the Clifton campus prepared special presentations about autism, and enjoyed lunch provided by the school.
“The students really enjoyed the food and the day’s activities,” said Ms. Muse. “Networking and teamwork are critical skills for administrative professionals, so it is important the students to have this experience. It’s also a nice way to relax in between their assignments and their busy lives.”
