– In honor of Alzheimer’s Awareness Month, our Somerset and Clifton campuses welcomed guest speaker, Nicolette Vasco from the Alzheimer’s Association to promote awareness about the disease among students and faculty.Ms. Vasco shared an array of information on the topic, including what happens in an Alzheimer’s-affected brain, detailed the risk factors, and the three general stages of the disease. Attendees gained insight on what’s on the horizon for Alzheimer’s research, as well as helpful resources provided by the Alzheimer’s Association.
“Ms. Vasco’s presentation really helped me gain a better understanding of Alzheimer’s and taught me that it kills more seniors than breast cancer and prostate cancer combined,” said Sherry L. Muse, Asst. Campus President / Director of Education in Clifton, NJ. “We really appreciate her coming in to teach and spread awareness among our #AIFamily. With most of our students pursuing a career in healthcare, it’s important for them to recognize the symptoms and know how to help their future patients who are impacted by this disease.”
