Domestic violence impacts millions of people each year. It can take many forms including physical, emotional, and psychological. Recognizing the signs of abuse and understanding how to offer or seek help is crucial to breaking the cycle of violence and creating a safe, supportive community.
Our seminars featured discussions led by organizations specializing in domestic violence prevention and victim support. Topics included identifying abusive behaviors, strategies for supporting victims, and information on local communities or hotlines for help. Attendees were encouraged to engage in conversations, ask questions, and learn how to be allies in the fight against domestic violence.
“The goal of holding domestic violence seminars on campus is to empower our campus communities and highlight local resources available to those who may be affected,” said West Hartford Campus Director Kim Colbert.
American Institute is pleased to support initiatives that bring critical issues like domestic violence to the forefront. By creating awareness and teaching our students about this sensitive topic, we strive to create a campus environment that is filled with understanding and support for all.
