“Massage is one of the earliest known therapeutic practices and is often an element of integrative medicine. While it can be very relaxing, it can also be part of conventional therapy for many medical illnesses and conditions. Massage helps reduce stress, pain, muscle soreness and tension. It improves overall circulation and can enhance our immune systems. A career as a massage therapist can be very fulfilling because you get to help clients feel better on so many levels. Being a massage therapist can really give you a sense of purpose especially when you know your work makes a positive difference in the world,” said Massage Therapy Program Corporate Director Selene Del Valle.
2022 Graduate Desiree T. from the Clifton, NJ campus shared, “I absolutely love my job as a massage therapist. You go into a room with your person and it becomes a moving meditation. If you maintain mindfulness, it can be very, very rewarding and I think you can have a lot of longevity in that.”
Faculty, staff, and students at each American Institute campus joined in celebrating Massage Therapy with food and shirts and other fun during the week-long event and encouraged their local communities to stop by the student massage clinic for a massage to experience the benefits personally.
